About LanzaMet
A free, ad-free site to see at a glance how the day looks in Lanzarote: the weather, the wind, the sea and the tides, area by area.
Why
Forecasts are usually tables of numbers for people who already know how to read them. LanzaMet puts them into words and compares the island’s areas, so you can quickly decide where to go. No accounts, no cookies and no tracking.
How each figure is worked out
- The weatherThe DWD ICON model through Open-Meteo, asked for at each area’s coordinates and updated every 30 minutes.
- The seaMétéo-France models. As the model doesn’t reach the shore, each area’s sea is read at an open-water point chosen by hand on the side its coast faces, 4 to 18 km out.
- The tideEstimated from the model’s sea level. Compared with a harmonic prediction at Arrecife, it runs 24 to 37 minutes early. It isn’t an official table and isn’t for navigation.
- CalimaDust in the air from the Copernicus service (CAMS), with an indicative threshold.
- Warnings and readingsOfficial AEMET warnings for the island and its coast, and readings from its stations. An area only shows “Measured” when a low-lying station is no more than 10 km away.
Its limits
What you see are model forecasts, not guarantees. Some areas share a model cell and show the same values. Before swimming or going out to sea, check the flags and follow the lifeguards.
